For sale is the U.S. Mint's 2016-W 1/2 Oz Gold Patricia Nixon Uncirculated First Spouse Coin.  This coin comes in brilliant uncirculated condition, was minted at the US Mint's West Point facility, and contains 1/2 troy ounce of 0.9999 fine gold.  The coin comes in a protective plastic capsule and is accompanied by all of its original US Mint packaging (including a wooden clamshell display case, outer cardboard box, cardboard box sleeve, and a certificate of authenticity).
This is the uncirculated, or business strike version of the coin.  Fewer uncirculated versions were produced compared to the proof versions of this coin.  Only 1,839 of these uncirculated coins were struck, making this the First Spouse coin with the second lowest mintage of any of the First Spouse coin series.  The only coin with a lower mintage is the uncirculated Betty Ford coin, with a mintage of only 1,824 coins (which we also have up for sale in a separate listing).

Patricia “Pat” Nixon was born Thelma Catherine Ryan on March 16, 1912, in Ely, Nev. Her father gave her the nickname “Pat” shortly after her birth, calling her his “St. Patrick's babe in the morn.”
Pat financed her education at the University of Southern California working part-time jobs on campus. She graduated cum laude in 1937, then accepted a teaching position in Whittier, where she met her future husband. When he decided to pursue a career in politics, Pat campaigned tirelessly on his behalf. She accompanied him on his trips abroad during his vice presidency, a practice she continued during his presidency.
As first lady, Mrs. Nixon encouraged the spirit of volunteerism. Genuinely concerned about people, she visited Peru following a devastating earthquake, and spent hours walking through debris and comforting survivors. She also visited South Vietnam, becoming the first First Lady to visit a combat zone.
Following her husband's resignation, the Nixons returned to their estate in San Clemente, Calif. She died in 1993.
