  • Condition: This was my Roller Furling #1 on an Irwin 30 (Big like a Catalina 30). A knucklehead at the club dropped my forestay on the bow pulpit and damaged it, so I used the wire forestay and put hanks on this. They can be removed by opening the capture hooks. It is a fairly heavy sail and good to 13 knots true; it will hold longer, but it won't help the shape any. The cloth is good, there is a chewed spot in the bolt rope that needs repair is RF'ing, and panel stitch broken off the UV coating near the clew.

    Description

This was my Roller Furling #1 on an Irwin 30 (9400 pounds, big like a Catalina 30).  A knucklehead at the club dropped my forestay on the bow pulpit and damaged it, so I used the wire forestay and put hanks on this.
If you're going to use the hanks, you're pretty much all set, otherwise they can be removed by prying open the capture hooks or cutting them off.  It is a fairly heavy sail and good to 13 knots true; it will hold longer, but that won't help the shape any.  The cloth is good, there is -up a chewed spot in the bolt rope that needs repair for a Roller Furling set, and a panel stitch broken off the UV coating near the clew.
The draft is about the middle of the sail, decent shape, but no demon uphill.  Some graying at the leech from aluminum oxidation, and some spotty staining.  Not bad from a distance....
If you spend 0 on a repair, this could last 7 years or so of moderate cruising. I'm guessing under a year to keep a sail like this is about par for an old cruiser.
Doyle Sails.  No bag.  Sail tie not included.  Shipping is a bit high because with the double paneled (UV) leech and the foamy helps-you-furl-on-the-forestay luff, this is pretty heavy.  Priced accordingly.
