Description
This is from a racing boat that constantly upgrades sails. Consequently, this is in very good condition. Racing stripes, sticky numbers, excellent telltales. Battens and bag not included. Condition as stated by photos ( a few smatters of copper colored staining, a bit of sticky glue ghosting, headboard scuffs). Over 2 feet was cut from the bottom; a new 3rd reef has been added, with new 3-8ths slides and excellent leech jam cleats and cords. Overall quite acceptably bright white (note the blueing is a camera effect, I have to stay out of the sun--when not sailing!).This was apparently cut for a transport sail, though it was clearly not used often as such. Slides are new or nearly so; the added 3rd reef shows clean and very bright. The reef cringles on the luff are oversized. Measured with moderate tension, allow at least a few inches for more stretch on the rig.
I also have listed a Kevlar-Pentex sail that is taller at 40 foot 1 inch. I estimate it to have been used 3 seasons, I suppose that is true here too.
This appears to fit a J92 or a Pearson 365 sloop PERFECTLY (mind your own specs). A very close fit for a Beneteau First 343.
This sail could easily last you 15 years if treated properly; my friend with a (lower aspect) mainsail got 35 years out his dacron mainsail on a Pearson 35, I got 40 years on my own Coronado 25. The only threat to this sail is leech tension; if you choose to race with it, expect the shape to taffy after a handful of years. It will stay substantially as is if you don't sheet down the boom making the leech as flat as your topping lift..... )). Reef conservatively, and keep good crew! (duh!).
The second threat of course, is UV. Keep it covered when not in use.
Selling for my Skipper.
