Sliding Plastic Calipers 3" - 80 mm.

I got tired of the brass calipers many years ago  because as you use them the brass dulls and tarnishes, making the numbers and marks hard to read.  With this tool, the numbers are black against an orange background and very readable, especially to my old and tired eyes.  It is a 3-way caliper, measuring inside dimensions, outside dimensions and even depth (brass calipers generally only read outside dimensions).  It is calibrated to read down to 1/128 inch on the top scale and 1/20 (0.05) mm. on the bottom scale, although I would read it only to 1/64 inch and 1/10 mm. to maintain accuracy.
These calipers are also SAFE to use on soft stones and pearls, because unlike the brass versions they will not scratch.  The capacity is 3 1/2" and 80 mm., and the outside measuring jaws have both a flat section and a knife-edge tip (for close-in work). Eventually the marks will wear down, at which time you may have to spend another .00 to replace it. Mine typically last for a few years.  You'll save a little when you order 3 at a time, and the postage is the same.
